SPQ13 KEITH

This week I didn't end up getting to help much with the 4960 JD because of other projects. But I got to ask question about it and learned so much. For example that the valve cover gasket they use weather strip adhesive to hold in the cork gasket or else it pops out. Also the listings and liners come with the piston already installed in the liner. I also learned a bit more on how to roll in bearings on the crank.

The picture is of the other JD Ray is working on that I took a picture because in the corner it shows a defect in the cast. But up close its welded in. Someone broke the corner of the cast and had to fill it in. Interesting to me wonder if they did it and actually cleaned up or with some oil in it. You just never know what people will do.

This week we got in our new excavator.
I got to run the bobcat and it was really fun to practice tacking tires. We also looked at the sae and iso controls and which is cat (sae) and John Deere (iso).  I run cat controls and know how important it is to have them the way your used to because switched it can be a read bugger.  Also I learned more about hydralic pressure and work be studying the systems for the winch and windless and how they worked on lower and higher volume systems. The last the I learned was a walk through WE did of changing the pressure on a pressure relief valve just the process and how to read it and test the system was great!

This week we went to B&G machine and the tour was amazing. Its so important to me to learn about business structure for the future and where it should be. We may feel disconnected from that side but we're not. In a good business model we're vital to the system and I forget that and can feel like a grunt. Bit don't aim low we are graduating as technicians, don't sell yourself short and don't settle for any less than the best product you can produce.
It was awesome to.see the engine blocks they had around and what they are worth. The amazing tools they have! Come on balancing a crank that's freaking sweet.
I guess biggest takeaway is that I don't want to just be a wrench turner I want to be a technician and I have better goals for what that looks like.
This week I also got some time in on the hydraulic bench and figuring out troubleshooting and understanding different problems.
